Job Title: Human Resources Generalist

Location: Union, NJ (hybrid/in-office Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday*)

We are looking for a Human Resources Generalist to join our dynamic, fast-paced Human Resources team. Our ideal candidate has strong analytical and communication skills, as well as experience with employee relations, employment law compliance, benefits administration, leave management, and policy implementation & enforcement. The Human Resources Generalist will play an integral role in supporting our internal operations as well as our diverse workforce.

Responsibilities:

Employee Relations:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations escalations across multiple states.
  • Coordinate with clients, account managers, our Consultant Care team, and other internal operations teams for escalated employee relations cases.
  • Resolve employee and client concerns regarding performance management, grievances, and disciplinary action for our contingent workers (employees hired by Mindlance to work in temporary roles at our client facilities).
  • Conduct investigations and recommend appropriate actions.

Compliance:

  • Assist the HR team in implementing, interpreting, and enforcing policies to ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Lead informational sessions for team members on HR-related processes and policies, as well as the employment laws that govern them.
  • Proactively monitor and research labor law updates, and coordinate with the HR team to ensure continued compliance.

Benefits and Leave Administration:

  • Assist in the day-to-day administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and wellness initiatives.
  • Participate in the annual open enrollment process.
  • Audit monthly benefit enrollments and premium deductions for accuracy.
  • Educate employees on benefit eligibility criteria and plan offerings.
  • Process requests for mid-year enrollments due to Qualifying Life Events.
  • Respond to unemployment claims and participate in virtual claim hearings.
  • Receive and process requests for leaves of absence, ADA accommodations, and workers’ compensation.

General Administrative Duties:

  • Maintain and regularly audit employee personnel files and records.
  • Prepare and distribute scheduled and ad-hoc reports.
  • Receive and sort incoming mail.
  • Prepare and send outgoing HR-related mail.
  • In coordination with the HR team, monitor the HR email inbox.
  • May perform other duties as needed in support of our organization's evolution and growth.

*This role is required to work in the Union, NJ office on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, and remotely on Wednesdays and Fridays. The in-office schedule may be modified contingent upon business needs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required; HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred.
  • 2 to 5 years of experience in a human resources role with a focus on employee relations, benefits, and compliance.
  • Knowledge of federal and state employment laws, regulations, and best practices; experience with multi-state employment is a plus.
  • Experience with HRIS and applicant tracking systems (ADP WorkforceNow and JobDiva a plus).
  • Proficient in using Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent analytical, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
  • Resourceful and proactive in scenarios requiring problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Able to work independently as well as in a team environment.

Physical requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Use of standard office equipment such as laptops, printers, copiers, and scanners.
  • Minimal walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items, such as papers, laptop, or small office supplies.

Compensation: ALL depends on experience - $60s to $80s range base
