Position at Hood Distribution

Hood Distribution, established in 1899, is a wholesale distributor of hardwood lumber & plywood as well as related specialty wood products. We currently have twenty-three locations, providing distribution into the eastern US as well as the Caribbean markets. Our primary customers turn our wood into something special.

Warehouse/Mill Associatesshould have experience in warehouse operations, distribution and machinery. Perform general bulk receiving and truck loading. Perform warehouse distribution activities. Ability to read a tape measure and do basic math functions. Previous or current forklift certification required. An ideal candidate would have lumberand or lumberyardexperience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operates forklift truck during the loading and unloading of lumber material.
• Utilize cutting tools and equipment such as power saw and circular saw.
• Guide lumber through mill equipment, and planning mill for fine finishing and processing.
• Take inventory and maintain accurate record of material and process orders.
• Maximize production time and finish product yield.
• Maintains PPE and safety equipment.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards during work operations.
• Physical strength, dexterity and stamina.  

Education/Qualifications:

• High School diploma.
• Some experience in warehouse operations, distribution, etc. in building materials or related product areas.
• Forklift operation certification.
• Hardwood knowledge is preferred.
