GARNEY CONSTRUCTION

As a Communications Coordinator at Garney Construction in Kansas City, MO,  you will help execute traditional and digital communication strategies that position Garney as an industry leader. This includes shaping Garney’s external brand image through content creation across multiple media formats and social media platforms. Garney is seeking a self-motivated Internal Communications Coordinator to join our Marketing & Communications team. In this role, you’ll play a vital part in shaping how information flows across the company—creating meaningful content, driving engagement, and strengthening the employee experience. You’ll partner with executive leadership, regional champions, and teams nationwide to ensure messages are clear, consistent, and impactful. WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

• Create and maintain content for our company intranet/mobile app, GarneyOne, which serves as a central hub for information, updates, and tools necessary for daily operations.
• Assist in planning and executing internal communication strategies and initiatives that enhance employee engagement and promote open communication.
• Lead internal communication projects through coordination, brainstorming, message development, writing, editing, and execution.
• Collaborate with executive leadership, regional champions, and departments across Garney to support consistent and effective communication across the organization.
• Focus on employee feedback and new hire communications tactics, including developing plans for consistent feedback and improving the onboarding experience.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Must-Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, or related field.
• Strong writing and editing skills with sharp attention to detail.
• Clear and confident communicator who values transparency.
• Organized, proactive, and able to juggle multiple projects.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).

Preferred

• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat).
• 1–2 years of communications experience (internships or entry-level considered).
• Familiarity with the A/E/C industry.
